Wannsee means two things to Berliners. On the one hand it is the residential district of Wannsee with its fine old villas set in large gardens - one of the best addresses in Berlin. On the other it is the lake of that name, or rather the two lakes, the Grosser and the Kleiner (Great and Little) Wannsee. The Wannsee ranks as one of the great recreation areas of the Berliners-- with cafes and restaurants, with terraces overlooking the Grosser Wannsee.

the baroque town of Potsdam on the Havel River. It's often been called Germany's Versailles. World attention focused on Potsdam July 17 to August 2, 1945, when the Potsdam Conference helped shape postwar Europe. The town has many historic sights and was beautifully planned, with large parks and a beautiful chain of lakes formed by the river. The palaces and gardens of Sans Souci Park, which lies to the west of Potsdam's historic core, are the major attractions here. http://www.frommers.com/destinations/potsdam/1046010001.html
The boat pub Theaterschiff is anchored near Lange Brücke. Here you can relax in a cosy maritime atmosphere and eat simple homely food from the galley at reasonable prices, or try out one of the many kinds of beer. Apart from being a pub and restaurant, this pleasant sailor's dive is also a cultural meeting-place. http://www.world66.com/europe/germany/brandenburg/potsdam

Brauhaus am Waldschlossen - Am Brauhaus 8b. Directions: It's at the end of Waldschlossen where it come to the River Elb, about a ten minute walk along the Elb from the Neustadt.
If you are missing Bavaria and beer gardens, this is the place to go in Saxony. Great and large portions of your Bavarian favorites at a fraction of the price. The restaurant inside is a bit more expensive than the outdoor self-service beer garden so if it's nice out, sit yourself down outside after picking up your goodies. They had great O'batzn, a cheese ball of sorts with onions and a great accompaniment to their home made pretzels. Their dunkles beers is a great unfiltered gem and amongt the very best in all of Saxony and only five euros for a liter mug!

Zum Goldenen Ring - Seestrasse 6, Altstadt, Dresden, Germany 01067 · 351-495-2320.
This is traditional German cuisine at its best in the historic Altstadt of Dresden. To get to this restaurant, you must climb a series of stairs to the second floor, but it is well worth the climb. Once you reach the top, you'll have a great view of the bustling town square, which is especially beautiful when decorated for the annual Christmas Market. Traditional German fare is the specialty, and the service is excellent. Business casual attire.

BrennNessel - Schützengasse 18, Dresden, Germany 01067 · 351-494-33-19
This excellent casual dining restaurant is located in a 300-year-old half-timbered home. The menu offers plenty of vegetarian favorites, and the choices are as delicious as they are varied. Perfect for a light dinner when you are ready for a change of pace from heavier German fare. The service staff is friendly and helpful, and the ambience is historic and fun. Business casual attire.

There are hundreds of restaurants in Dresden. We locals prefer those in the neighbourhood or those in the Neustadt (northeast of Albertplatz, the "nightlife" district).

For those wanting a location in a town, we offer this hotel set opposite the spa park in Bad Schandau, across the river. If you prefer a livelier atmosphere of an evening, this is the place for you. There is often live music in the beer bar. Half board is not available here, though a small range of evening snacks is served. However, there is a wide range of places to eat in the town.

U maltézských rytířů - Prokopská 10, Prague 1- Phone: 257 533 666 Best Atmosphere. Directions: Coming from Charles bridge, it is the third road on the right and then first on the left. This nice little restaurant is located in the Malé Straně (Lesser town) quarter. It is very close to the end of Charles Bridge. We liked it so much we went there twice in 3 days. It is very small with only a few tables on the first floor and a really nice cave with some more downstairs. Recommend the "Roast saddle of boar on briar sauce" or the "Fillet of pork with leeks and bacon baked on lard". The "Roast duck breast marinated in fresh ginger" as good but I have had better. The "chocolate ice-cream in a blueberry cream, decorated with fresh mint" is exquisite. It is a bit expensive for Czech standards (about 20 Eur per person), so that is probably why you will see mainly tourists. Website: http://www.umaltezskychrytiru.cz/index_en.php
Rybí Trh (the Fish Market) Restaurant. Best Seafood. Innovation and expertise of some of the world's top class chefs, under the direction of the critically acclaimed, award winning chef, Pavel Mares. Fish is boiled, roasted and grilled according to recipes from around the world! The fish is either live or freshly imported and stored on ice, still somewhat a rarity in Central Europe.

Kavárna Medúza - Belgická 17, Praha 2 02/258 534. What a delicious place for a pastry and a capuccino. We were feeling very travel-weary as we passed this spot, so we went in. It felt quite musty, but in our case, location was everything. It is located in the Medúza, near several Vinohrady hotels and pensions, and seemed to have many tourists and students as customers. http://travelchannel.igougo.com/planning/journalEntryDining.asp?JournalID=6798&EntryID=6162&n=Kav%E1rna+Med%FAza
